Frome Diamonds 35 – Calne Lightning 28
LOCAL netball team Frome Diamonds won their most recent game against Calne.
A spokesperson said, “Another win for Diamonds in the New Year against a physical Calne team. Playing in wet and windy conditions, Diamonds kept the passes short and with close range shooting from the two Alices, Bradley and Baker they built up a narrow lead at quarter time of eight goals to six.
“The second quarter saw Diamonds increase this to four goals with some good defensive work from Kirsty Townsend and Emily Pascoe. The ball was wet and slippery and coupled with the wind it meant that both teams gave away possession at times resulting in silly errors. Half time score was 19 -15.
In the third quarter Calne outscored Diamonds who had made changes at half time but they still led by three points. The last quarter saw Diamonds restrict Calne to only three goals with Lydia Chancellor picking up some great contact calls and also picking of some overhead passes along with Emily.
“Diamonds scored consistently and the height of Alice Bradley in the offensive circle meant Diamonds picked up lots of rebounds if shots were missed. She came away with the Players’ Player award whilst the Player of the Match Award went to Janie Bullus.”
