In the early hours of last Friday, 19th October, a fire broke out in the two-storey block of flats, consisting of five residential flats, that sits on the corner of Garsdale and Vicarage Street. Eight people were evacuated as fire crews from Frome, Warminster, Bath, Westbury, Trowbridge and Shepton Mallet tackled the blaze.
The fire is believed to have started in a rear bedroom of the property and to have started accidentally.
On the day of the incident, Frome Town Council and Fair Frome launched an appeal to support the victims and were quickly inundated with offers of support. A spokesperson for Frome Town Council said, “Anybody wishing to make donations of clothes and furniture should in the first instance email the council with items that they wish to donate and somebody will get back to you when we have established what the needs are of the individuals involved on info@frometowncouncil.gov.uk.
“People can make financial donations by Bacs transfer to Fair Frome sort-code: 60-08-31 account number: 63682826 reference FIRE and we will ensure that any donations will reach the residents involved.”
