An art society in Frome, founded 47 years ago, is encouraging new members to join the group.
Frome Art Society was founded in 1979 by Charles and Vera Appleyard and their friend Charles Hopkins. They wanted to encourage local people to get involved in learning about, making and appreciating art.
Today, the society continues to work towards those aims by running a programme of events including practical workshops, talks and demonstrations, exhibitions, outdoor painting days and a weekly Friday morning social drop-in creative session.
A member of the society, Lavinia Mitchell, said, “As a non-profit organisation, Frome Art Society is unique in that it gives local people from Frome and surrounding areas an opportunity to participate in a variety of very affordable activities throughout the year. These include drop-in coffee mornings, workshops, outdoor painting days and exhibitions open to all members, regardless of experience.
“If you have always wanted to try your hand at painting but have never been sure where to begin, we welcome members of all abilities. To join this friendly supportive group, or for more information, visit www.fromeartsociety.com.”
