Midsomer Norton 38 Frome RFC 15
RFC made the short trip to Norton Down to face Midsomer Norton in the 1/4 Final of the Bath Combination Cup but went down to a 38-15 defeat.
“A disappointing result against a very well drilled Midsomer Norton side despite a spirited effort by us,” said Head Coach, Garrie Webster. “We started brightly and put pressure on their line early on but we weren’t accurate enough and lacked composure to take the points. When Midsomer Norton had the ball, their ruck speed and continuity in attack caused us problems.

“In the end their power and speed of ball was the difference. We got on the score board through a Max Stickley penalty, an unconverted try by Cory Plumridge and a converted try by Harrie Webster.”
Player of the Match Awards went to a trio of players; full back Max Stickley, winger Harrie Webster, both for their outstanding defensive efforts and second row James Howard for his energy and constant attacking threat.
With the Cup run ended for Frome, all focus now goes to the league campaign, where Frome next take on bottom of the league Chippenham RFC II.
