LOCAL artist Violet Von Riot has completed her largest piece of art yet as she created a stunning collage of one of Frome’s most loved buildings.
The piece was commissioned by the Cheese and Grain to celebrate their 25-year anniversary and will be displayed in the café inside the popular venue.
“This piece is my largest ever to date – size A0 in fact,” explained Violet. “The size of this piece presented its own challenges, unbelievably, it was physically difficult to do, the amount of stretching and leaning over a collage of this size for such long periods of time made me ache like a gym workout! And of course, getting tiny bits of paper so precise with outstretched arms felt like a whole new level of collaging.
“This piece was commissioned by the Cheese and Grain to celebrate their 25-year anniversary. Old original posters were located and gathered up, and some historic events that had the flyers stored online were reprinted to use within the collage.
“There are bands, markets, community events, DJs, well known nights and festival flyers, all torn apart and put back together to create the image of the Cheese and Grain; even the bushes are made up of the old Covid rules and food hygiene ratings.”
