ARTISTS and musicians will come together at Rook Lane Chapel on the evening of Saturday 16th March in celebration of the art exhibition HOPE/НАДІЯ, to create an exhibition preview with a difference.
The HOPE НАДІЯ exhibition by 12 artists, some displaced within Ukraine and across Europe, is the second major exhibition for the project group. By invitation of Frome Kindness Festival with generous support from NVB Architects, the exhibition will open on Saturday 16th March with a preview evening – a community celebration of performance, music, song and spoken word. The exhibition will run daily from 18th to 24th March, 10.30am to 4pm.
Frome Kindness festival director and founder Alison Murdoch suggested that the preview evening involve Frome’s vibrant Ukrainian community. A number of local as well as Ukrainian musicians are performing, including Olha Koptieva and Yulia Ladyzhenska who sang together at the Christmas lights switch-on. They will be accompanied by accomplished cellist Juliet Solomon; composer Helen Ottaway will play her music box; The Meltones will reform from their own playbook; and young Illia Halechian will perform Arcade on keyboard.
“We have a preview of two halves,” Pam Warner, Artists in Dialogue’s administrator, explained. “Doors open to the public at 6.30 p.m.; performances will be preceded by Frome’s new town crier, and then both talented local and Ukrainian musicians will share the stage. The opportunity to view the artwork will follow on during the second half of the evening.”
HOPE/НАДІЯ exhibition will show recent original artwork from local and Ukrainian Artists in Dialogue and a selection of limited edition fine art prints from the first year of the project July 2022 – July 2023.
