PUPILS in Year 1 and 2 at Vallis First School have celebrated the opening of their new library.
The school report, “The children are very excited to be able to enjoy reading books in their stunning new library. It has now been officially opened by Michelle Robinson, a very popular local children’s author.
“The children were enthralled as she told us about being an author and read some of her books in a video she made specially for the children at Vallis.
“The children in Y1 and 2 have been learning about castles in their History topic and were very excited to hear part of her exciting book ‘Do Not Disturb the Dragons.’ They can’t wait to hear the rest of the story!
“The children loved coming to school dressed as a word. Children came dressed as the words camouflaged, scientific, love, illuminated, glittery, tropical, magical, wild and many other exciting words. Activities throughout the day were planned to expand their vocabulary and love of words. Book treasure hunts challenged children to find the longest word, the most unusual word and the most common word in their favourite books they had brought in to share from home.
“Vallis First School promotes a love of books and reading and their new library will certainly encourage that passion for all children in the school. The children are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to read Michelle Robinson’s books that have been put into our new library.”
