Frome Stars 38 – 18 Delta Red
Frome returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Delta who had gained promotion with them last season.
Frome were soon down by 3 goals to 1, but this was the only time Delta were in the lead as Stars picked up the pace after a slow start and then never looked back.
Great defence work from Alice Millard and Kathy Dredge forced Delta to shoot from long distance and Stars picked up the rebounds to turn defence into offence.
Centre pass pressure from JoJo Knight picked off numerous passes and, with the help of Sophie Cox, the ball was overturned and converted by Janie Bullus and Hannah Dredge.
Quarter-time Stars led by 9 goals to 4 and they increased this by half-time to 20 goals to 7. JoJo continued this pressure all through the game and deservedly won the Player of the Match Award.
In the shooting circle Hannah was having another good game, although at one point the match became rather feisty and she took many a tumble.
Kate Ellen kept her cool and along with Sophie, fed the shooters some great passes which they duly converted. Alice and Kathy continued their great work and, in this particular match, all players contributed to some great all-round play; Janie even chipping in with a couple of tips.
On fine form, Stars increased their lead in the third quarter to 31 goals to 11 before dropping off somewhat in the last one to finish the match winning by 20 goals.
Sheri Pleasants subbed and scored for Stars and Lucy Perry did some stats, so thanks to them. The team voted Sophie Players’ Player for leading from the front with another consistent performance. With four games to go, Stars still top the table.
