Award-winning poet, novelist, and art critic, Sue Hubbard, once lived in the Frome area and has been keen to return during the Festival to talk about her work. Sue will be at Frome Library on Monday 9th July from 11am – 12.30pm, to introduce and read from her latest novel ‘Rainsongs’, and to answer audience questions.
Set on the remote west coast of Ireland, Rainsongs has been described as a ‘compelling tale of grief, art, and the fragile, quiet ways in which time and place can offer a measure of redemption’. (Fantastic Fiction) Landscape and seascape are central to poet Sue Hubbard’s elegiac story of loss and valediction. Newly-widowed, Martha Cassidy returns to her husband’s writing retreat, a cottage on the Kerry coast, “the end of the world with nothing between her and America except the cold sea”. Guardian
The talk is a free event and Hunting Raven Books will be selling copies of the novel in the library, both before and after the event.
