2021 was a year of transformation for Avanti Park School.
The school reports, “The school was taken over by the Avanti School Trust in 2019 and the new Principal, Abby Atkins, started at the school in April 2020 – just as the pandemic hit!
“Despite the huge challenges that the pandemic brought the school has undergone huge change to become a mainstream school whilst retaining its unique nurturing ethos.
“We have an incredible new outdoor area which is for the exclusive use of the Reception children. This is a wonderful space with a mud kitchen, sandpit, climbing areas, spaces for trikes and bikes and an area of wildflowers with a story-telling chair. We are incredibly lucky to have received the funding to develop this area into one of the best for reception children in Frome.
“As everyone knows reading is vital to the development of all children. We have invested heavily in a new library for both our primary and secondary children, beautiful murals, furniture, and many new books.
“Our wonderful PTFA have supported us with funding for this and they also set up a ‘buy a book scheme’ for parents at Hunting Raven Bookshop in Frome; not only supporting the school but also a local business.
“The school is going from strength to strength, and we are delighted to have welcomed almost 150 new families to the school in the last year. Avanti Park School really is a wonderful place, for both children and staff.”
