An award-winning spoken word poet will perform at Rook Lane Chapel in May.
Pete the Temp is bringing his acclaimed show ‘Romantics, Mystics and Revolutionaries’ to Frome on Friday 1st May.
“The show fuses music, comedy and ecstatic poetry with a live performance-lecture on two poet-revolutionaries – William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge,” say the organisers. “Together they unfold a spellbinding history of riot, state repression and psychedelic experimentation — one that still speaks to our age of upheaval.
“Hear the story of two Bristol-based poets / revolutionaries who helped change the face of history. William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge have been brought back to life in this rapturous collision of ecstatic poetry and classical instruments. Learn about the Romantic poets’ relationship to psychedelics, anti-slavery and rebellion in this intriguing journey of lyricism and laughter. This is a one-of-a-kind act of enchantment and madness from a time of slavery and war.
Pete the Temp is an award-winning poet, author and comic and has featured on BBC Radio 4, Newsnight and BBC World Service.
