Local charity WHY… We Hear You were delighted to welcome family and colleagues of Julie Hawley to their offices at Frome Town Hall last month. Julie was a much loved and respected member of the team at DuoBoots before she sadly passed away.
DuoBoots contacted Julie’s family as they wanted to raise some money in her memory by donating a percentage of sales from a specially designed boot to a charity of their choice and they chose WHY to be the beneficiary.
Donations from sales of the ‘Julie Hawley Boot’ amounted to a huge £3,322.43, which will fund over 75 sessions of professional counselling for local families affected or bereaved by a wide range of life-threatening conditions.
Claire Alexander, head of HR at DuoBoots said, “Julie was such a wonderful person to work with and is still greatly missed. We are delighted to be able to support ‘We Hear You’ in her memory, so others can receive help from the charity’s expert team.”
Gemma Wilkes, fundraising and communications manager at WHY said, “We cannot thank the Hawley family and DuoBoots enough for their support. This funding will make a huge difference to local families needing to access our service at a time when we are facing increasing demand for our appointments.”
WHY is a Frome-based charity delivering life-changing support to people affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions across Somerset, BANES and Wiltshire. WHY receives no central government funding, so rely heavily on the fundraising efforts of the local community.
