A LOCAL brewery is celebrating success, after their own stout won a bronze medal in a prestigious competition.
Frome-based Milk Street Brewery’s very own stout, Zig Zag, came third out of hundreds of entries from all across the country in the Stout and Porter Class at the Peterborough Beer Festival that took place from the 20th to the 24th of August.
It was judged by beer experts from Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) which is an independent, voluntary organisation campaigning for quality real ale, community pubs and consumer rights.
Zig Zag is a 4.5 per cent ‘chocolaty stout’ available from The Griffin in Frome.
Cathy Lyall, company director at Milk Street Brewery said, “It’s great to have won third place.
“There are definitely some coffee notes in the stout, but it’s creamy and chocolate flavoured. It’s great.”
Master brewers at Milk Street Brewery have also come up with the official beer for this year’s Cobble Wobble, that is sure to get your wheels turning.
At 4 per cent strength, the Cobble Wobble official beer is ‘refreshing, clean and dry’. It will be available throughout October and will then be re-brewed for the Cobble Wobble event on Sunday 16th of December.
