The Frome branch of Barclays Bank held a bumper book sale throughout the school summer holidays in support of Positive Action on Cancer (PAC).
Barclays Bank chose to support PAC by running the book sale in their banking hall for over six weeks, to raise much needed funds for the local charity, who helps anyone who is affected by cancer, directly or indirectly, by offering emotional support. Barclay’s Bank head office will be matching the £967.27 raised, making the total raised a massive £1934.54.
Sarah-Jane Monger who helped run the event said, “We were so pleased with the support we had from the local community, both donating and buying books from us. We chose to support PAC as they are a very local charity, just a couple of doors away from us! They know that cancer can turn people’s lives upside down, that’s why they exist.”
Fundraising assistant from PAC Kelly Lewis said, “It was great to see people drifting away from the banking queue to see what was on offer. We really can’t thank Barclay’s enough for choosing us, and to all those customers who donated books, or popped in to buy and support us and the work we do.”
PAC are a local charity delivering life-changing support to people affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses across Somerset, BANES and West Wiltshire. PAC receives no central government funding so rely heavily on the fundraising efforts of the local community.
