THE Frome RFC clubhouse opened its doors for the annual festive treat, the Paul Lovatt Cup at the end of December.
The inter-club game sees the select Town XV take on the Gown XV- a side made up of returning players who are back in Frome for the holidays.
The fixture saw a bumper crowd brace the cold weather and filling the clubhouse for an entertaining game, with both sides showing some superb skill and determination. Half time saw mince pies and port shared between the players and supporters and it was followed with tries being scored from across the park.
It was the Town XV who edged the win in the final minutes to take home the trophy, which was presented by Paul Lovatt to Rowan Walton, captain for the day, in front of the large supporting crowd.
A Frome RFC spokesperson said, “We’d like to thank everyone involved in organising the fixture, all the players who took part and the great support and cheers from the sideline.”
Paul Lovatt commented, “Thank you to all of the players for providing such an entertaining game for a big crowd. Roger Gilson did a great job refereeing”
