2017 is set to be a busy year for the Cheese & Grain with a whole host of big names and exciting events lined up!
The Cheese & Grain sees its busiest January ever with a fabulous mix of events. The new year kicks off with a bang on Saturday 14th January with Scottish blues band King King. They have built up an army of fans who will be out in force for this Frome gig – it’s not to be missed.
Think Floyd return on Friday 20th January followed by Live Dead ‘69 with a former member of Grateful Dead on Friday 27th January. Then on Saturday 28th January, the world’s only official tribute to Marc Bolan and T. Rex, T Rextasy is set to perform.
February sees a great diversity of entertainment. On Sunday 5th February the brilliant ‘So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs’ comes to Frome where children can test their knowledge against Ben Garrod, the TV scientist in ‘Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur’. With the help of TV film footage and photos of his own palaeontological dinosaur digs, he will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about dinosaurs and more.
Also in February, Frome Symphony will perform a special Valentine’s concert on Friday the 10th which will feature Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet and Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll. Then a Cheese & Grain favourite, Whole Lotta Led return on Saturday the 11th.
The Frome Tattoo Convention is back for a third year on Saturday/Sunday 18th/19th February with the UK’s top tattoo artists appearing, competitions, workshops as well as live music and acts.
Frome resident Huey Morgan of Fun Lovin’ Criminals will be making a welcome return on Saturday the 25th February.
Then continuing into the spring, the line up will feature Lee Scratch Perry – A Celebration of Reggae, A Bob Marley Tribute, Bay City Rollers, The Cuban Brothers, Sham 69 and of course the Frome Beer Festival which will take place on Friday/Saturday 17th/18th March. Keep a look out for other names yet to be announced.
The Frome Gin Festival returns in May (tickets are now on sale) and along with the markets and special events, 2017 is set to be another brilliant year.
