Are you a storyteller in search of an audience? OpenStoryTellers is looking for people to tell stories as part of their annual Bardic Chair event.
The Bardic Chair has been held in Frome since 2011, OpenStoryTellers having taken on the task of running it following the closure of the Peat Moors Centre near Glastonbury, who began it in October 2002.
“It is a friendly afternoon of varied traditional and original stories, all told orally (no reading allowed),” said OpenStoryTellers member Tim.
“After we have enjoyed the stories, the Fates will be invited to choose the winner as the storytellers draw lots to win the title of ‘Bard of Frome’ and to become the holder of the Bardic Chair for a year.
“The current Bardic Chair was made for OpenStoryTellers by members of the Frome Men’s Shed, using wood from Longleat Forest, after the original Chair tragically succumbed to woodworm.
“Come and show off your talents and you might become the Bard for a year.”
The Bardic Chair will take place on Thursday 28th November at OpenStoryTellers, RISE, Whittox Lane, Frome, BA11 3BY, from 1 to 3 pm. Doors open at 1pm and the stories will start at 1.30pm.
If you would like to be one of the storytellers please email info@openstorytellers.org.uk or phone 01373 454099 by the 13th November. Please say the name of your story, how long it is (maximum 7 minutes), and of course your name and contact details!
