THE troops behind Frome’s cancer charity, Lisa’s Army, will be out and about this spring and summer to boost funds.
The charity was set up in April 2020, after local woman, Lisa Wells, died from bowel cancer in August 2019. It was established to fulfil Lisa’s vision of having a charity to help terminal cancer patients create everlasting memories.
Their aim is to offer a range of different experiences for those with cancer including: beauty treatments and pamper packages, photo shoots and capturing memories, red letter excursions and bespoke individual interest events.
Their first fundraising day will be held at Asda on Saturday 6th April where the team will be doing a bucket collection from 10am to 3pm.
They will then be holding a jumble sale on Saturday 13th April at the South Parade Club from 12pm to 3pm, a charity bingo evening on Thursday 18th April and a family fun day at Critchill Manor on Sunday 2nd June from 12pm to 3pm.
“We are looking forward to getting out and about again and we need to raise as much as we possibly can to continue helping people,” says Lisa’s mum, Deanna Wells.
This year’s fundraising efforts follows last year’s events and a 200-mile charity bike ride to Chateau Gontier in France, where Lisa’s dad, Tim cycled with some Frome Firefighters to the French town to raise funds for both Lisa’s Army and the Firefighters Charity. The total raised was £3,170 plus Gift Aid.
