The managers and heads of department working at Gracewell of Frome care home arrived suitably dressed in Superhero outfits on Monday 20th May, the start of Dementia Action Week!
The care home reports, “Even the visiting directors showed their support by wearing superhero costumes too. Under the banner, ‘Gracewell Superheroes fighting dementia’, the team set off into town to raise awareness. They gave out information leaflets and were raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society – “not every super hero wears a cape!”
Debbie Goodsell, Gracewell of Frome’s home admissions advisor said, “Every person we came across and spoke to had at least one relative, friend or loved one that was living with dementia. The condition affects so many.”
The care home raised £100 for the charity by supporting with bag packing at the local Iceland store and from all the generous donations the team received whilst walking around the local community.
The Gracewell of Frome team also visited the Dementia Action Alliance stand at the local library to lend their support, where people were signing up to become Dementia Friends.
After a fuel stop, the team also made time to visit the local Frome Community Hospital where they spent time with the staff and the patients.
