Bad news…there’s no Independent Market in Frome on Sunday 6th March.
Good news … in the spirit of ‘you can’t keep good folks down’ the traders of Catherine Hill have decided to throw a party on that day.
Organisers Lewis Gibbs and Ciara Nolan said, “With the kind support of the town council and the independent market organisers we will spill out onto the street and party in the good old fashioned British institution that is the traditional street party.
“We are pleased to have the support of the Independent Market Team and Frome Town Council. There is much to celebrate – the onslaught of spring, Mother’s Day and the fact that the people of Frome know how to enjoy themselves!
“Visit Catherine Hill on Sunday 6th March for fun, frolics, good food, live music, general festivities and that all important retail therapy for that special woman in your life…but rest assured there’ll be something for everybody!”
Ciara, from vintage shop Poot added, “The market originally started up here, it’s now a real success and a crowd puller across the whole town and even though it’s not happening in March we want to put on a day for Frome. The Sunday event will also see the opening of Frome’s latest new independent shop, Covers Vinyl Record Store on Catherine Hill.”
Gemma from new shop Covers Vinyl said, “We have been looking to open a shop here for some time, until now we have been an online business selling new vinyl and with the ever increasing demand for new quality vinyl albums we decided that the time was right to open a shop, it’s all very exciting and what a way to start with a street party!”
Sunday 6th March also sees the Cheese & Grain going ahead with their monthly Magpie Market and the town will be playing host to almost 100 visitors from twin towns in Poland, France and Germany; so even without the market its going to be a busy day.
