Awareness sessions for people with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) are set to run at Frome Library following a successful launch event.
Organised by the charity FND FrieNDS, the first session on 19th February saw 18 visitors attend to find out more about the condition and the support available. Many joined the charity’s closed Facebook group on the day, while others who were already members came to talk with the team.
Trustee Dave Penny said, “The event started at 11am with someone waiting for us as we set up. This continued throughout the day until we packed up at 3pm. The event was a great success, not limited by the number of visitors but from the reaction I received on the Facebook chat groups I advertised on.”
FND is a neurological disorder where the brain has difficulty sending and receiving signals properly. FND FrieNDS is a patient and support group for those living with FND in the southwest.
Dave added, “Following this event, I will be holding regular meetups in Frome, where anyone with FND is welcome. You don’t have to be a member of the group.”
Future sessions will be advertised on social media and around the town.
