TWO runners from Frome have presented Frome Lions Club president, Jim Dowling, with a cheque for £1,316.30, at a recent meeting at Frome Rugby Club.
Back in May the two runners, Fiona Norris and Kate Wareham, undertook a 53-mile charity run from Taunton to Minehead via Bridgwater to raise funds for two charities close to their hearts, the rare cancer charity Sarcoma UK and Frome Lions Club charity fund. In total they raised £2826, which was shared between both charities.
Fiona knows all about the work that the Lions do in the local community as she is the daughter of long- serving Lion Keith McLeod the immediate past president and felt that it would be appropriate to mark this special year for the club who have been celebrating 50 years of service in Frome.
Kate said that the other charity to benefit from their exertions, Sarcoma UK, was particularly close to them as their friend and fellow runner, Dawn Prior, was a sufferer.
