THE Children’s Festival is back this month and this year it is celebrating Diversity.
Explaining what will happen at the festival this year Marketing and Communications Manager Rachel Griffin said, “The Children’s Festival ethos is that other cultures should be discovered and celebrated and this year they are have ensured that a number of themed events run throughout the festival day including looking at animals and where they come from around the world, different foods from around the world including African and Indian food and they will also take a look into food miles.
“Their much loved story tent will be run by Frome Reads who will have stories from around the world and there will also be folklore performances including Indian and Caribbean stories and songs.
“Clothing and dance from around the world will include for the first time this year Hawaiian dance. There will also be a diversity family tree and a samba parade of course.
“Many of the arts and crafts will also be based on other cultures including Chinese dragons, aboriginal art, Chinese fans, Japanese carp kites, Polish cockerels, Indian hands and mandalas.
“The Children’s Festival are also always keen to make sure that as many activities are available to all children regardless of ability and this year they featuring Power Chair Football and the zip wire will be set up to enable children in wheelchairs to also be able to access the experience.”
Most of the activities will run for the entire afternoon but see below for timetabled events:

“Funded by The National Lottery Celebrate Fund, Frome Town Council, Knightstone Housing association and Frogs and presented in partnership with Young People Frome, the Children’s festival is a real Frome affair with a strong cultural twist.”
The festival will be held on Sunday 9th July from 12pm until 6pm from the Cheese and Grain to Welshmill Park.
