Somerset storyteller Michael Loader, recently seen on BBC’s Children in Need, wowed the younger crowd with his spontaneity, puppets and interactive storytelling as part of a packed night at the annual White Row Farm Christmas shopping night.
There was a hog roast, cider tasting and craft beers, plus local suppliers in abundance sharing their wares from Sweet Cumin’s tasty curries, to Hobbs House’s Christmas brioche loaf, from Great Western’s sparkle and fizz to Marshfield’s ice cream and in the gift shop, flower displays and samples of soap and goodies.
To top it all, local celebrity baker Tom Herbert came along and talked to customers about his Hobbs House Bakery and breads; we also spotted him talking with White Row owner Steve Tucker, about plans for using White Row wheat to make bread, you heard it here first!
Next door to the gift shop the old piggery has been taken over by every size of Christmas tree – park up and pick up your tree, so easy.
White Row for the first time this year have their own Christmas puddings too, made by their head chef (and Masterchef Professional quarterfinalist) Jamie Barnett and they are beautifully wrapped, so make a pretty tidy gift too.
So if you’re looking for just about anything to brighten up Christmas this year then a trip to White Row is worth it, pick up a tasty fish and chips takeaway while you’re there.
