FROME children’s entertainers Rocktopus have unveiled their Christmas charity single ‘Celebrate Together’ in aid of Young People Frome.
Local families were treated to the song’s debut at the recent Christmas lights switch-on as the band entertained the crowds with their catchy rock songs for kids.
Tom Veck, co-founder of Rocktopus says, “We wanted to write a song for kids which looked at the real meaning of Christmas and reminded kids that giving and sharing are what’s really important.
“Celebrate Together was a great success with kids and parents, so we decided to release it as a single to raise funds for the local charity Young People Frome.”
Rocktopus’s other member, Andy Hawkings said, “We’re really blown away with the response so far and feel very grateful to live in a town which is so supportive of its local talent and charitable projects.”
Since starting in 2015, the band have gone from strength to strength. Their debut album, ‘Come On, Let’s Go’ has seen an international release through iTunes and the band were a hit with kids and families at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Tom and Andy have a busy schedule ahead for 2017 with the release of their first music video and preparations for a rock school for kids at Kilve Court in Bridgwater later in the year.
“We’re also thrilled to be bringing our full length live show to Frome’s Merlin Theatre in March,” says Andy.
Tom adds, “I think the success of the band really confirms to us that people are desperate for good quality kids’ music and entertainment which can also be enjoyed by adults.”
‘Celebrate Together’ is now available to download for 79p on iTunes. All proceeds will go to ‘Young People Frome’.
“We’ve seen that Young People Frome put on some fantastic events for the children of Frome and share their commitment to supporting young people in our local area,” says Tom.
The Rocktopus album, ‘Come On Let’s Go’ is also available for download or as a CD from Ellenbray.
