Climate Action Group is back for a third outing

CLIMATE Action Group will be assembling for the third time in Frome’s Great Big Green Week with a focus on sustainable transport. On Wednesday 14th September the group will be meeting at 7.00-8.30pm at the Town Hall to discuss how they can get people to think differently about their travel, to get out of the car and travel actively and sustainably. 

The meeting invites community groups, businesses and interested individuals to bring their knowledge and expertise to the discussion saying, “Everyone is welcome!”  

Mayor, cllr Sara Butler says, “Transport is a major emitter, both globally and locally, and while hopping in the car might be convenient, we need to provide viable alternative options. Whether this means making walking more appealing, making the buses more accessible or expanding our green spaces, we want to hear your ideas.  Here in Frome, we have been trialling various schemes to encourage people to travel actively and sustainably, such as our School Streets scheme, the Cycle Together ebike loan, and the co-wheels car share. But there is still so much work to be done. We’re excited to hear what fantastic ideas you all have that can make a big difference, so come along and let us know!” 

The Climate Action Group meets every three months to scrutinise Frome’s sustainability plans, work with community groups and identify new solutions. The last meeting celebrated Frome’s green and blue spaces, forming bridges between different community groups and finding ways to make our corner of the world a little better.
