VOLUNTEERS and representatives from the churches in Frome will hold a coffee morning at Wesley Church on Saturday 7th May from 10am-12noon.
Organiser Jean Fraser said, “At the coffee morning, there will be a lifesize handmade tiger which has been donated. The tiger represents the rapidly decreasing numbers of Bengal tigers left in Bangladesh. In fact, there are only 440 Bengal tigers left.
“Bangladesh is one of many countries that Christian Aid helps. They believe that we should love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
“On our posters advertising this event, is a picture of a girl doing her studies in Bangladesh with the caption, ‘It’s time to Count Your Blessings 2016′. We have the blessing of education, not all in the world are so fortunate.
“In addition, Christian Aid provides food and shelter after natural disasters, and the tools for training people to make a living in the world’s toughest places. By supporting this you will be helping to take the side of the driven-out, the forgotten and the ignored.
“They also help people whose lives have been torn apart by conflict, providing relief to victims of the brutal conflict from Syria to South Sudan. They turn swords into ploughshares and find new ways past violence providing clinics, health workers and vital medicine.
“Local partners are used wisely, money is accounted for. In a world where there’s enough, Christian Aid is determined to keep on until everyone has their fair share of the basics they need to build a dignified life.
“Please support this event and the forthcoming collections during Christian Aid Week, from the 15th – 21st May. Thank you.”
Volunteers will be collecting for Christian Aid at the Westway precinct during Christian Aid Week.
