AN APPEAL to collect football boots and kit to send to an orphanage in Uganda has been launched in Frome.
Katy and Matthew Allcott are collecting new and used football boots, kit and clothing to send to the orphanage, after Matthew contacted a coach there over the internet.
Katy said, “Matthew had made friends with the football coach at the orphanage on a coaching forum page and saw that they had nothing, not even a proper ball.
“He wanted to try and help in some way, so we are looking for donations of children’s astro turf trainers or moulded boots – none with metal studs – shin pads, socks and football kits so that we can send these over for the kids.”
The Little Flower Shop is collecting kit donations in its shop on Forest Road, Frome, and in its Warminster store.
“We are very grateful to Tessa at the Little Flower Shop, and to Colin Berry at Thornbury Sport who has donated an amazing £1,000. This will help us to buy any items or sizes we don’t have much of, and pay for shipping. Thanks also to everyone who has donated so far!”
