FROME College has hit back at claims students were made to wear their blazers during the hot weather.
Students and parents took to social media claiming students were being forced by the college to wear their blazers at all times and that female students must wear tights.
One man told the Frome Times, “Students who attend Frome College are made to wear their full school uniforms in this current heatwave.
“Students have to wear the full uniforms walking to and from the school, enforced by teachers standing at the exit of the school telling them to put their blazers and ties on. Female students are also forced to keep wearing tights.
“In lessons, students can only take off blazers with permission in badly ventilated rooms which can heat up quickly due to big windows on two sides of the rooms. Teachers are wearing summer clothes, so why can’t students do the same?”
But in a statement, Frome College said, “During the extreme heatwave, students do not have to wear their blazers in or out of the classroom. They should fold them and put them safely away in their bags to avoid losing them. Tights are also not compulsory. We give out advice to all students via their tutors first thing in the morning registration on a daily basis.”
