FROME College’s sixth form led a fundraising Fashion Show on Friday 16th March which saw a huge crowd of people attend the Merlin Theatre.
The college said, “The concept for the first ever College Fashion Show came from Tiffany Lee in year 13, who wanted to raise money for the youth mental health charity ‘MIND’ and for ‘WHY’ (We Hear You).
“Tiffany organised a group of students to help support, coordinate, perform and model for the show. Over the last couple of months, students have been making their own clothes in the school textiles workshops.
“We would like to thank all the stars of the show. Our models – Finlay Osborne, Tiff Lee, Jesse Oruz, Ellie Riddle, Cat Mosler, Grace Lloyd and Maisie Cloke. Our performers – Ellie Riddle, Laura Curle, Imi Draper, Kira Saunders, Charlotte Moore, Lucy Cooke and Megan Wright. ‘The Frontrunners’ – Solo Candy, Joe Sommerville, Cole Wylie and Skye Whitty.”
After the show, Tiffany said, “I would just like to thank everyone that helped out, or came to the show; it was for a really good cause. I had made a number of the clothes in the show, as well as using many of my own vintage pieces.
“ I wanted to highlight and promote upcycling, as fashion is the proprietor for the second largest waste of fabric and clothes in the world. I hope the show has made an impact on the confidence of students through modelling, performing and photography; it also shows what students can do with just a little push and encouragement. We all worked really hard and it was great to see our efforts come to life.
“My original inspiration for the show came when my textiles teacher, Mrs King, mentioned how nice it would be to have a fashion show to showcase our talents. This show did exactly that!
“I feel confident in our ability to organise and create an event for anyone to participate; Bethany Woodham thoroughly contributed to the cause, she helped us organise the event, and really pulled through when we needed her. Mr Nicholls did really well in organising music accompaniment, and making sure we had enough acts, not to mention Will Angelero and Matt Tippers’ fantastic work bringing the show together on the night. Thank you to Zac Frost for designing our wonderful poster to publicise the show.
“When I had originally decided to create the show in October 2017; I had never imagined it to become something so big and beautiful. The turnout was fantastic for an entirely student-run fashion show at Frome College. I think it went beautifully and I’m really proud of everyone involved! A special thanks go to our photography students for covering the event – Matty Thearle, Ellis Price and Mia Douglas. All the proceeds from the show will go to charity.”
Frome College continued, “The feedback from the community has been fantastic, and we would like to thank everyone who attended, and continue to support the highly-talented young people at Frome College.
