STAFF and parents from Christchurch CofE First School will be taking part in the Colour Obstacle Rush next month to raise money to transform the school’s outdoor space.
The team will be sliding, bouncing and tumbling their way around Bath Race Course on Saturday 23rd April, hoping to raise enough money to be able to transform the school’s grounds.
Caroline Stedman said, “It is going to be lots of fun, but very challenging too. We are not just running 5km, we have to get over a number of obstacles and cope with being splatted with paint as well. Our team has a mixture of abilities and will have to work together to ensure all of us get past the finish line.
“We are running to raise enough money to transform our outdoor learning spaces. We have large grounds with plenty of open areas, but now we want to make the best use of every square inch of space for the benefit of the children.”
Headteacher Rupert Kaye commented, “The children on our school council have had a say in how they want to improve the school grounds. At the top of the list is a request for new lunchtime play equipment and improved sports facilities.
“The pupils have also requested an on-site forest school area, quiet zones with extra seating and even an outdoor classroom where they can do more work away from their desks. With lots of fund-raising events planned over the year, we are aiming to raise £10,000.”
