TWO new one-day workshops will be held by Frome Community Education next month at the Cheese & Grain, for people looking to learn to work with lino or acquire basic stand-up comedy skills.
On Saturday 9th May, local artist Steven Jenkins will be teaching how to make linocuts, to make cards or prints using relief printing techniques with lino and softcut.
Students will learn how to adapt a simple image into a print suitable for card design or a larger design that can be worked in two or three colours.
No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and some sketches or cuttings to get you started. The course will run from 10am to 3pm and costs £22.
Then on Saturday 24th May, Submarine Comedy Club MC Tim O’Connor will be hosting a stand-up comedy workshop.
The six hour workshop will give students starting point skills, ideas and techniques to generate ideas, develop performance skills and create their own stand-up material. Students will acquire basic new comedy skills they can continue to develop after the course – these skills can be applied to other areas of writing, performing and public speaking.
The course is intended as a fun one day taste of comedy by professional drama and comedy tutor Tim O’Connor. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and costs £25.
