ONE hundred and twenty was the magic figure at the exhibition of work at the Round Tower this week.
Featuring work from community classes in Frome, curators Amanda Bee and Andrew Eddleston managed to include 120 paintings, drawings, photographs and engravings, plus 120 items of pottery and ceramics. Not only that, the preview last Friday night was attended by 120 people!!
All of the pottery and many of the art classes are organised by Frome Community Education, so include classes such as rambling and photography, wood engraving, linocuts, drawing and painting and watercolour. With work from both students and tutors on display, there was a fine range of skills shown as well as great variety. With 10 classes of pottery run each week, the ceramics certainly featured prominently. The overall impression was one of great passion and variety with some superb skills being shown. Frome has always enjoyed the arts and this two -week exhibition shows that the legacy is very much alive.
“Many of the items were for sale and were quickly snapped up on preview night. Details of the classes for September will be published in the Frome Community Education brochure which will be out in July. Booking classes is done via the Cheese and Grain.
