This September Fromie Gifts turns one! To celebrate, founder Nicky Bragg is pledging to donate £1 from every online sale to local charity Open Story Tellers.
She will also be offering ongoing support to help and support its members through kickstarting their Instagram page and selling a selection of the charity’s products in her store.
Open Story Tellers is based at Rise, Frome and was founded in 2009.
Living through story is their key message, and their work aims to enrich and empower the lives of people who have learning disabilities and autism through a variety of workshops and support groups. They also work with schools, social care and community organisations to spread the message about using creativity and finding positivity through story.
Jade Ogden from Open Story Tellers says, “We are so excited about this new collaboration and bringing awareness to the work we do and the amazing talent we have here at Open Story Tellers. We hope more people will become friends of the charity and we can spread the word through our newsletter and share invites to events we run. Having a partnership with a local shop is a lovely way of getting ourselves more visible to the people of Frome and beyond! “
“The connection seemed obvious to me,” said Nicky, founder of Frome Gifts on Stony Street.
“We all tell stories to challenge perception and make ourselves understood. Every day I tell my own story, as well as the stories of Frome makers and suppliers to visitors and locals alike. It helps people understand why artists and makers do the things they do, and if people identify or connect with the story, they are more likely to support us.”
Stories build a sense of self, encourage understanding and in turn give people a sense of identity and the ability to make the best choices for themselves. We are all the same, just with different needs – if we support one another, we can enrich our community and our economy. So, come and check out what’s in store from September 6th onwards!
