The community was recently welcomed into Christ Church for an open day to learn more about the future of the space and share their views on how the church could be made more accessible to a wider group of residents.
Following a series of repairs needed in the church, which is based on Christchurch Street West, a major project of general refurbishment could soon be underway.
“The open day seemed like a great opportunity to consult the local community and find out ways that it could become more accessible,” explained a member of the church team, Olivia Date. “People also had the chance to view the architect’s drawings showing possible reconfigurations, allowing for a chatty cafe, meetings, mediation circles and more.”
During the day, which was held last month, residents – including Frome’s Mayor, Cllr Andy Jones – also had the chance to peek inside hidden spaces in the building, such as the organ loft and the vestries.
There was also live music and visitors could enjoy a bowl of home-made soup or a cup of tea and cake.
Visitors were additionally invited to plant bulbs along the path leading up to the church, which will bloom in the spring.
