WHY would anyone want to self build when it is so difficult to find a plot, get planning permission and finance the build?
Kevin McCloud of Channel 4’s ‘Grand Designs’ explained why in an exclusive interview with FromeFM at Frome Town Council’s ‘Housing Our Community’ event at Rook Lane on Monday 30th September.
His development company HAB (Happiness Architecture and Beauty) are pioneering new ways of developing…and funding…community-led housing projects that are affordable and exciting, allowing individual creativity by working together with planners and self-builders.
Frome could be leading the way.
Speakers at the event outlined the new Frome Neighbourhood plan and spoke about several successful self build and sustainable projects within the UK and Europe. A Question & Answer session followed which also included Frome Co-housing and self-builders from Bristol.
FromeFM recorded the whole event and this will be broadcast on 96.6fm on Saturday 12th October at 1.00pm and online at www.frome.fm
