A LOCAL student recently held a one-day art exhibition to highlight the loss of green spaces to housing developments.
The exhibition, held at The Station Gallery on Monday 21st September, featured work by Frome local, Summer Auty. The Green Party Frome Town councillor, Shane Collins, was in attendance, alongside Lollie Melton from Stop SGC.
Summer explained, “I’m a young Frome person and we don’t have a garden, so this is where I go running and walking. This land means so much to me, that’s why I want to fight for it!
“The project was born out of my connection to the land, which was particularly important during Covid. When I found out that the land was threatened with development, I produced this project at university and got Stop SGC involved. I asked them why they were protesting and they sent me some really sad responses, some of which are used as quotes on the back of images in the exhibition.”
