A LOCAL couple in their 90s have been reunited at a nursing home in Frome after being separated by hospital stays last year.
Ernest and Ivy Button, from Coleford, are back living under the same roof after they were able to move into Frome Care Village together.
Ivy, 91, had been staying temporarily in a care home in Shepton Mallet, while Ernest, 96, had spent several weeks in the RUH in Bath. Neither were well enough to return home, but were both able to move into Frome Care Village on the same day.
Home manager, Margaret Rhodes said, “It really has been a privilege in helping to make this reunion possible. We look forward to adding further benefit to the time that they have with us, and by means of the quality care we deliver, make every day special for them. We are looking forward to pulling out all the stops on their anniversary.”
The couple will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary in August this year.
Frome Care Village is a dementia care home on Styles Hill, run by national firm Alexis Care.
Margaret added, “It’s our job to make the people that live here feel that they still have purpose. That is why creating a journey paved by the individuals past; understanding their identities, their memories and their interests in life, help us achieve that.”
