Last week Black Swan Arts launched a Crowdfunder campaign for LISTEN a Summer of Sound.
LISTEN is an ambitious project bringing all kinds of sound art and music to the buildings and open spaces of Frome. A line up of exciting artists from Frome, the South West and other parts of the UK is planned and the season will run from 20th July to 1st September – in fact all summer long.
You can go on a heritage sound walk, visit an exhibition, lose yourself in an installation, be immersed in a ‘gong bath’ and listen to music indoors and out. Most events will be free and suitable for all ages.
Curator Helen Ottaway said, “I am thrilled that Black Swan Arts have invited me to curate this first season of sound. It’s a wonderful opportunity to work with some of the talented people in the town as well as a chance to bring some incredible sounds to Frome from elsewhere.
“We have a fantastic team working on the project from coordinator Mel Day, whose idea it was to run a season of sound art to animator David Daniels who has designed the posters and made some great animations. There’s plenty of scope for others to get involved too.
“The project has raised some funding already but needs £4,000 more to be able to deliver all the wonderful things that are planned. Please visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/listen to make a donation and pledge your support.
“Put the dates in your diary – 20th July to 1st September and look out for more news over the coming months. More info on www. blackswan arts.org.uk.”
