The Frome Independent is teaming up with local charity Frome’s Missing Links for a cycling-themed October market, set to celebrate the joys of getting around on two wheels.
Frome’s Missing Links, who campaign to improve cycling and pedestrian routes in and around Frome, will be hosting a whole range of bike-related activities at the next edition of The Frome Independent on Sunday 6th October. Visitors to the market can take part in games such as a “Brompton bike folding competition” and “Bike Wheel of Fortune”; find out about Frome Town Council’s new e-bikes and try one out on a tour of Frome; and even create a pedal-powered smoothie!
There will also be a Bike Jumble sale, where pre-loved bicycle parts will be on sale to raise funds for the vital work carried out by Frome’s Missing Links, which focusses on improving the Colliers Way cycle path between Frome and Radstock, with a view to creating a traffic free route into the centre of town. The section from Welshmill to Low Water, known as phase 1, was completed in January 2015, with work on phases 2 and 3 currently in development.
Director of The Frome Independent, Tabitha Clayson, said the market team was thrilled to be working with Frome’s Missing Links, following the success of their cycling-themed market in the summer of 2018.
She said, “As Frome residents ourselves, our whole team never fail to be impressed with the tireless work carried out by Frome’s Missing Links to improve Frome for walkers and cyclists. We’re hoping that lots of market-goers come and take part in the activities and show their support for this great local charity at our October market.”
Anyone wishing to donate old bikes, accessories or bike parts can get in touch with the Frome Missing Links team on frome missinglinkevents@gmail .com to arrange donation.
The bike-related fun can be found outside Frome Library, next to The Frome Independent’s pop-up Village Green from 10am until 3pm on Sunday 6th October. The market will also host its usual array of contemporary craft, local produce and street food, vintage homewares, live music, family art activities and much more.
