A team of seven fundraisers took to the skies in a 15,000ft skydive, raising more than £3,000 for Fair Frome.
They completed the jump on Saturday 20th June at Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury. It was coordinated by Fair Frome, giving volunteers and supporters of the charity the opportunity to take part in a fundraising challenge.
The charity supports residents in financial or food poverty, running the town’s food bank, community pantry scheme, baby basics bank, furniture bank and Food @ Five.
One of the team, Linda Bridges, said, “It was an absolutely fantastic experience. We were unsure whether we were going to be able to take part because it was overcast and cloudy. It was a shame because we had really geared ourselves up. Luckily, we were able to take part and it was amazing.
Just fabulous
“I would definitely recommend it and I recommend doing the 15,000ft jump. When the parachute went up it was an absolutely amazing feeling because you suddenly go up and then you are looking at the fantastic scenery for about five minutes before you come down. It was just fabulous.
“The skydive was run by Go Skydive and they were fantastic at making you feel very safe. You don’t have hardly any time to feel nervous.”
Linda, 59, who is part of Frome Town Rotary, said she is now considering a wing walking challenge.
“I would definitely do it again. In the days after, I have just felt so pleased with myself,” she said.
“I raised around £900 for Fair Frome and I am so pleased that so many people sponsored me and gave up their money.”
