This year’s Frome Festival is set to begin, marking its 25th anniversary with a stellar line-up of arts, culture and community events.
Over 300 events will be hosted in 58 venues across Frome and the surrounding area over 10 days, from 5th to 12th July.
Among the headline names are Sir Tony Robinson, Irish folk singer Cara Dillon and Sam Lakeman, comedians Phil Ellis and Timmy Mallett, and actor Nigel Planer.
Director of Frome Festival, Adam Laughton, said, “This is a joyful celebration of arts in our town. I urge everyone to support the remarkable venues and creatives that make Frome so special. With so many activities taking place, including a great programme of free or low-cost events, we hope there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Events include a special anniversary performance of the musical King of Fools at the Merlin Theatre, a large-scale performance of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert featuring a big band and local singers, and the return of the popular Food Feast.
Other attractions include Frome’s Hidden Gardens, with more than 50 gardens on display, literary events, workshops, art exhibitions, free walks and talks, wellness activities, a dance music night and a children’s Wildlife Parade through the town centre.
Around 160 of the events in this year’s festival are free or cost up to £5.
A special Frome Times guide featuring full listings of events is included on pages xxx.
Printed brochures are also available to pick up from the Cheese and Grain, the library, information points and many other locations across Frome and the surrounding area. An online version is also available.
Tickets are on sale via www.fromefestival.co.uk and at the Cheese and Grain box office.
