DENNIS Maps, formerly a division of Butler, Tanner & Dennis printers, have ended uncertainties about their 169-year legacy by announcing their return to Frome.
The company which began trading in Frome in 1845 with a site on Bath Road, went into administration last year. They failed to agree on a lease renewal for their premises on Caxton Road, and were unable to find a new location in time.
The book printing press stopped trading this year, but the separate map printing business, Dennis Maps, survived as a result of the prestigious Ordnance Survey contract, which they acquired in 2010.
The firm will be setting up shop just half a mile from their site on Caxton Road, with a press on the Marston Trading Estate. They hope to be back in business by the 8th September.
The company’s namesake Felix Dennis, who rescued the company in 2008 and personally paid employees before their redundancy this year, died in June.
