Saturday 15th November
Southern League Division One South
Frome Town 4-0 Melksham Town
It was Derby Day Delight for the Dodge as they dispatched local rivals Melksham Town by four goals to nil.
The hosts were on the front foot from the start and three minutes into the game skipper Sam Teale had an effort from long range that was just wide of Adam Forster’s goal.
On 16 minutes, the Dodge scored the opener. George Dowling delivered a corner in towards the rising Sam Meakes who planted his header past Forster.
It was one way traffic as Dowling was looking to get in the scoresheet but his strike from the edge of the D was blocked. And then just a couple minutes later Forster was busy in the Melksham goal, making a double save. The second one was to deny Sam Teale from inside the six-yard box.
The Robins got their reward for all their dominance as they scored a further two goals before the interval through Albie Hopkins and Dowling, both slotting the ball home in the corner from the edge of the box. The Dodge went into the break three goals to the good.
It was the bad start to the second half from Melksham’s perspective as Warren Maidment made it four goals for Frome on 47 minutes.
Melksham showed why they are winless in their last 12, as they offered very little. The one time they came close to a consolation goal was when Will Christopher’s free kick late on just grazed the top of Kyle Phillips’ goal. However, other than that, it was a very resounding result for the home side and a huge three points in the derby.
Up next, Frome travel to Swindon Supermarine next weekend, to face a Marine side which has only lost three games in their last ten in the league.
