FROGS’ (Frome Recreation and Open Grounds Supporters) new wildflower feature at The Roundhouse Garden at The Other Side incorporates the points of the compass to help you find your way.
The group says, “North, South, East and West are marked by stone pointers on a wildflower circle – please add a stone or two as you pass by.
“We will be tending the raised beds at our gardening sessions at the Roundhouse Garden on many Saturday and Sunday mornings over the spring and summer. In the beds we grow medicinal and culinary herbs and woodland flowers – everyone is welcome to pick and use the herbs, and also the wild strawberries in the bed nearest to Welshmill Lane.
“Dates and times of the volunteer sessions will be on our website: www.fromefrogs.org.uk or contact us through enquiries@ fromefrogs.org.uk to sign up for our newsletter. We warmly welcome new volunteer gardeners, whether you have previous experience or not – please bring gardening gloves and handtools if you have them, and stout footwear is advisable.
“Our friends Olivia, Emma and Jude from Radix:Centre for Community Herbalism will be giving three talks at The Roundhouse Garden about the herbs that grow there and how to use them, on Saturdays 18th May, 27th July and 14th September all at 2-4pm. Contact FROGS as above for further details about booking etc – £10 per person. There will also be a practical workshop at £25 on Sunday 25th August 2-5pm. More information from www.communityherbalism. co.uk

On Sunday 9th June we have Butterflies, Birds and Plants with Eve Tigwell – meet at East Woodlands church at 2.30pm, £3 adults, accompanied children free.
And coming up later we have: Sunday 30th June Wildflowers with Veryan Conn; Sunday 28th July Wildlife of a Quarry with Tony House.
“FROGS are looking forward to helping out at the Frome Children’s Festival on Sunday 23rd June and the Friends of the River Frome Meadowfest event to celebrate our river on Sunday 14th July.
Another exciting event this summer, on Sunday 13th July, sees scale model driverless cars using the Welshmill Pump Track to race and demonstrate the technology of autonomous vehicles. The event is supported by Edventure:Frome and organised by DIY Robocars UK. FROGS played an important role in getting the lottery funding for the Pump Track, and we are thrilled to see it being used for such an innovative event.
“And finally, great news! Asda have chosen FROGS as one of their local charities from April, so when you are shopping in their Frome store please vote for us as this will be a tremendous boost for our fundraising plans, helping us to offer local families all these great outdoor experiences!”
