TOP Brit-pop band Dodgy will be headlining at Frome Westway Cinema in April, in a new series of fundraising gigs for the venue.
It will be a chance to see the legendary band after a successful summer promoting their critically acclaimed album ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’. New songs and old favourites are promised for their return to Frome.
Organiser Michael Ford wants to support the cinema as it raises funds for a new digital projector – and give people a great night out at the same time.
He said, “I was about seven when I watched ET there, and I’ve known Martina and the family for years. I’ve done things for charity before, but thought it would be good to do something closer to home. We should be able to make a really decent amount and have good fun as well.
“Everyone’s chipped in so that the maximum amount of money goes to the Westway. We have 300 capacity and sold 100 in the first week, everyone seems to be really up for it. We’ll have space for people to have a bit of a dance, and it’s the only cinema in the country with a licensed bar which will be open as well.”
Dodgy will be supported by local bands and artists: ‘Nunny songbird’ Beth Monk; The Shout; and The UK Stiffs.
The gig will be held on Saturday 6th April at the Westway Cinema. Tickets are £10 and are available from the cinema on 01373 467 088.
