Donate online to the Wesley Church Organ Appeal

After a frustrating delay, the method that will allow the people of Frome to donate to the Wesley Slope Heritage Organ Appeal online has now been resolved.

The £50,000 appeal, to restore the historic 18th century instrument, was launched in May and incorporated a fast-track online giving account, but the website ‘giving’ element had to be curtailed whilst clarification to some of the church’s charity references were made. A number of people had reported that they had been unable to register their donations.

Now resolved, the Wesley Church appeal team apologise for the delay and hope people will try once again to login to the online site www.virginmoneygiving.com then follow the links to the Wesley Slope Heritage Organ Appeal.

The origins of the organ can be traced back to the late 18th century, reputedly procured second-hand in 1854 from Romsey Abbey.

The instrument, with its stunning pipe arrangement and classical Harris style casing, has been maintained to a very high standard for the 175years since its installation at Wesley Slope. Pipe organs of this stature are becoming increasingly rare, and the current church council is anxious to undertake pre-emptive remedial work to preserve its heritage value for the future generations of the town.
