DOROTHY House’s Frome Friends group is all set to sell raffle tickets at the women-only sponsored 8km Bath Moonlight Walk on Saturday 9th September and are expected to help raise between £600 to £800 in funds for local hospice, Dorothy House Hospice Care.
The raffle competition has an extra special prize donated by Mulberry of a luxury Bayswater handbag in midnight blue which retails at over £1,000. Now in its eleventh year, the Bath Moonlight Walk starts with a party from 8pm in the SouthGate Shopping Centre in Bath followed by the Walk at 10pm onwards around the city of Bath. Entries are open at www.bathmoon lightwalk.org.uk.
The Bath Moonlight Walk is open to women and girls aged 14 and over and registration costs £20, with all entrants receiving an exclusive t-shirt before the event. Children aged 16 years and under must be accompanied by a paying adult and walkers are requested to pledge a minimum of £40 sponsorship or make a donation in lieu of sponsorship.
From 8pm on 9th September in the Southgate Shopping Centre in Bath there will be stalls offering accessories and merchandise, the ‘Butlers in the Buff’ boys will be handing out free donuts and chocolates to walkers and there will be a Saturday Night Diva disco-themed warm up.
Dorothy House’s Frome Friends group will be selling raffle tickets all evening and the winner of the Mulberry handbag will be announced at the end of the walk.
The Bath Moonlight Walk is Dorothy House’s biggest annual fundraiser and last year attracted almost 800 entrants who raised over £95,000 to help the hospice care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
This year’s theme for the Moonlight Walk is ‘Saturday Night Diva’ and aims to bring women together to celebrate life and support the ‘sisterhood’ of people who are affected by, or instrumental in, the provision of end-of-life care in our community. Friends, mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmas and sisters will be hitting the streets for the walk dressed in their best glittery disco gear to celebrate the vital work of Dorothy House and share a great night out.

Emily Knight, events fundraiser, Dorothy House Hospice Care, said of the raffle competition and Mulberry’s prize donation, “We are extremely grateful to Frome Friends Group and to Mulberry for their generous and ongoing contribution to the Bath Moonlight Walk over the years; each year the handbag raffle grows in popularity and raises substantial funds.
“Entries are open for the walk on 9th September so don’t forget to sign up for a fun ladies’ night out while supporting your local hospice. For every £1 we receive from the NHS, the hospice has to raise another £4.”
