EDVENTURE:FROME are now accepting applications for their flagship course, Edventure Start-Up.
It’s a practical, part-time course in community entrepreneurship, open to anyone aged 18 – 35(ish). No qualifications or experience are necessary, just a willingness to get stuck in.
‘’It’s learning by doing with the satisfaction of knowing that a real thing will be created by the end of the course.’’ says Doug, Edventure Start-Up programme’s lead.
“Start-Up is a unique opportunity for young people to learn how to turn their ideas into a reality whilst gaining a greater understanding of what matters to them personally. To date, 16 local enterprises in Frome have been set up by Start-Up students including; The Welsh Mill Hub co-working space; The Community Fridge; The Share Shop; Frome Wardrobe Collective; Make:Shed; Ding! Bike Repair Workshop, and most recently, Loop – a community composting enterprise. Now’s your chance to be a part of Start Up’s new venture.
“10 students, 11 weeks, 1 challenge: You’ll be provided with the tools, connections and support you need to go out into the community, meet key stakeholders, and spend 11 busy, exciting weeks bringing your start-up to life.
“The team at Edventure will be on hand to provide mentoring and assist with branding, marketing, and other practical tasks. At the end of the course, you’ll have time to reflect, celebrate, and make plans for the future of your enterprise and yourself.
“Previous students have gone on to work for their business, essentially creating jobs for themselves, whilst others go on to work within the charity sector or set up their own social enterprises. Edventure will be there to support you in your next steps, whatever they may be. Students also benefit from six months use of Edventure’s co-working space for free (worth £600).
“Alongside creating a real, positive social impact, a large part of the course is focused on personal development. You’ll be introduced to a new, unique way of learning, exploring skills that you’ll put into practice including; project management, ideas development, conflict resolution, and collaboration tools. Skills that are transferable and applicable in all stages of life.
“Additionally, each student is given a coach to help them throughout their journey. The programme is structured in such a way that it helps people to build strong connections and friendships within the team, whilst realising their own values. If you’re ready for a new, exciting challenge, apply ASAP as places are allocated on a rolling basis.”
You’ll be invited for an informal chat with Doug, where you can find out more about what you’ll be working on and how the course is structured. The course starts 13th September and runs part-time for 11 weeks.
“Finishing the course, I feel more confident in myself, more empowered, and even more myself than I have in a long time” says Louise, Edventure Start Up 16.
“I would say do it, it will have so much impact on your personal and professional life, don’t hesitate” says Tugba, Start Up 16.
