Frome’s very own Sweet Machine will headline this Saturday’s Electric Dreams night at The Wheatsheaves in Bath Street, this Saturday 7th May.
The Frome based electro-pop band will be performing their diverse range of danceable, melodic and occasional electronic weirdness which has led to them being described as ‘Depeche Mode meets Pulp’. Formed by ex-members of ‘The Dream Kitchens’ the band have recently stepped up their gigging and released their new album ‘Electric Soup’ in late 2015, the line- up includes Darren Hogarth (vocals & synths) Rob Petherick (Bass & vocals) Richard Churchyard, synth player, vocalist (and owner of Frome’s Raves From The Grave)
In a late and surprising move Sweet Machine will be supported by a new band who having only just emerged from initial rehearsals have already caused a bit of a stir, not least because of some confusion over their name. ‘Music of the Andys’ combines the talents of The legendry festival band Here & Now’s synth wizard Andy Roid and one of Bristol’s favourite guitarists Andy Burrows.
The evening will have a heavy 80’s influence with the bands joined by DJs including a set from local Electro pop queen Gene Serene. The gig takes place on Saturday 7th May and the music starts at 8pm and entry is £3.00 and £4.00 after 10pm, the evening runs until 1.30am although last entry is at midnight. Tickets are on sale at Raves From The Grave in Cheap Street, Frome.
